The genre of our chosen song is pop ballad therefore we will be researching this specific genre in order to find out the target audience of our music video.
Pop ballad: form of slow love song prevalent in nearly all genres of popular music.
Pop music is hard to define. The word "pop" comes from "popular", so in one sense you could say that "pop music" is whatever happens to be popular music.
-It's easy to listen to, or in other words it appeals to most people.
-It consists of fairly short songs by popular artists.
-It is highly commercialized by record industries.
-Pop music encourages dancing, and uses a beat that is easy to dance to.
Due to the fact that pop music is a very mainstream genre our music video will have a large target audience. Pop music is commonly played on the radio, t.v music channels and shops/clubs therefore people are most aware of this genre.
As the song we are using is about a love story, being shown from a female and a males point of view, both sex's of our target audience will be able to relate to the lyrics.
We feel that this song will be particularly popular with teenage girls as they may be able to relate to the lyrics, therefore we will try and make our video attract to the same audience.
